Beam Mobility developed the “Drive Something New Today” campaign to educate consumers about alternate, more convenient, and environmentally friendly forms of transportation. The campaign aims to highlight the critical role that its shared e-scooter service plays in resolving the everyday problem of completing first and final mile excursions when using public transportation.
Beam’s “Drive Something New Today” campaign promotes micromobility

Beam’s objective with the “Drive Something New Today” campaign is to improve small drives and make cities run more smoothly for everyone. Beam enhances the existing public transportation ecology by using e-scooters for single-person travel within a city as a convenient, accessible, and healthier way to get about. Riders save 2.65kg of CO2 emissions for every 10km rode on a Beam instead of a car.
In a recent poll of micromobility riders conducted in May 2022, nearly half of the 1,800 Beam riders polled said that having access to e-scooters for the “first or last mile” of a journey made them more likely or significantly more likely to consider using public transportation as an option for long journeys rather than driving or using ride-hailing services.
The surveys show how open Malaysian individuals are to the potential of shared e-scooters functioning in their cities, with only 9% of the 1,544 citizens polled expressing any level of opposition to the idea. This number was cut in half after they learned about the safety features, convenience, and environmental benefits of shared e-scooters.
The Beam e-strong scooter’s aircraft-grade aluminium chassis conceals an efficient electric engine and a high-grade IoT communications device that works to assure the safety and responsible operation of its riders. This enables features like Beam’s exclusive virtual parking technology, which encourages correct e-scooter use and return, while its speed-limiting technology (limited at 25km/h) prevents users from going too fast – even when riding downhill.
Beam e-scooters are also fitted with geofencing technology to guarantee that e-scooter users stay inside defined areas permitted for micromobility vehicle use by local governments and regulators. This assures the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other vehicles, while also allowing Beam to identify inappropriate usage or placement of its vehicles and fix it instantly.

Finally, all of Beam’s e-scooters come with batteries that are certified to the strictest fire safety requirements. Beam also has a safety programme called the Beam Safe Academy. The programme trains participants on correct e-scooter usage in order to safeguard the safety of not just Beam’s riders, but also pedestrians and other cars nearby.
Furthermore, Beam is also introducing the Beam Booster programme under the “Drive Something New Today” campaign. Through Beam’s exclusive virtual parking technology, the programme spotlights local businesses and encourages Beam riders to make a pit break or complete their journey right in front of a Beam partner’s doorway, generating interest and income for their business.

Beam, as an MDEC e-Rezeki partner, employs around 250 Malaysian gig workers as Beam Rangers to perform crucial maintenance duties on its high-technology e-scooters, ensuring that Beam e-scooters are in top working order for users.
The #BeamForAll campaign promotes fair access to transportation services by adjusting their rates to certain community groups, making them a viable choice for first and last-mile transportation in underserved communities.
