The Nothing Phone (1), the much-hyped-up project from OnePlus founder Carl Pei, has just been released here in Malaysia. The new smartphone comes with its already-signature Glyph Interface, a 50 MP dual camera, 120Hz OLED display and a custom-built Snapdragon 778G+ SoC packed inside.

The Nothing Phone (1)’s stand-out feature is definitely its unique Glyph Interface that can be seen through the device’s transparent back. The Glyph Interface features 900 LEDs that light up to indicate when you’re receiving calls or messages. The light patterns on the Glyph Interface can also be customised to each of the user’s contacts. Basically a notification light on steroids.

Nothing’s new smartphone also touts what Nothing calls a ‘refined’ Nothing OS which is a close-to-stock Android experience with no bloatware. The whole design language of the operating system is designed exclusively in-house by Nothing. This includes the widgets, fonts, sounds and wallpapers.

In terms of specs, the Nothing Phone (1) is equipped with a 6.55inch OLED display with support for HDR10+ content and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The display is encased in Gorilla Glass 5 that can also be found at the back of the device.

Unlike most smartphones, the Nothing Phone (1) packs in a dual camera setup with two 50MP sensors. The main camera is powered by a Sony IMX766 sensor and comes with features such as dual image stabilisation, 10-bit colour videos, Night Mode and Scene Detection. The selfie camera is a 16MP. Users can also use the Glyph Interface as their own portable ring light when cranked to full brightness.

Lastly, the Nothing Phone (1) features a special Snapdragon 778G+ processor under the hood that has been customised for the device to include both wireless and reverse charging features. The battery is a 4,500mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging, 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse charging.
