Sony has recently announced the Xperia 5 IV, the latest addition to their Xperia 5 line of smartphones which comes in a compact design. The Xperia 5 IV is the first smartphone in the Xperia 5 series to feature Real-time Eye AF and Real-time tracking on all lenses for shooting perfect portrait images, a 12MP front camera for great clear selfies and videos even in low-light situations, wireless charging, and battery share.
The Xperia 5 IV includes features found in Sony’s flagship Xperia 1 IV smartphone and Alpha series cameras, such as Eye AF and Object Tracking. All in a small package.
The 120fps read-out speed image sensors on all three lenses enable 4K 120fps slow motion recording (up to 5 times). Users can also livestream their content directly to streaming services using Videography Pro. The new front camera has an improved 12MP sensor for video selfies and vlogs, enabling 4K HDR content with outstanding contrast grading.
The Xperia 5 IV also has an external monitor function. Users can directly deliver high-quality images taken with a mirrorless camera (such as the Alpha series cameras) while monitoring with the Xperia 5 IV by connecting a mirrorless camera (such as the Alpha series cameras).
In addition to Real-time Eye AF, the Xperia 5 IV now supports Real-time Tracking, which aids in tracking and maintaining focus even when the subject is moving. This is made possible by AI-powered depth analysis. With features like the dedicated camera button, which instantly launches the camera app.
The Xperia 5 IV is equipped with a 6.1-inch 21:9 FHD+ HDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is 50% brighter than the previous 5 series. The display also has a Real Time HDR Drive feature that helps users see what’s on the screen even in bright outdoor environments.
Under the hood, the device touts a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage with support for microSD expansion up to 1TB. There’s also a 5,000mAh battery keeping the lights on, a 3.5mm audio jack, “DSEE Ultimate” and LDAC support as well as support for the latest Bluetooth LE Audio.
Xperia 5 IV price and availability
The Xperia 5 IV is set to release in Malaysia from Q4 2022 onwards and is available in Black. The retail price of the new smartphone has yet to be revealed but be sure to stay tuned to us at The Adventures of Vesper for the eventual price announcement.
