I am very glad that I waited to get my hands on the Apple Silicon-based Macbook Pro because the all-new Apple Macbook Pro M2 makes its stride with the new M2 Pro and M2 Max – just as the previous M1 generation with more improvements on the inside. The best part? The pricing has gotten a lot better than it was.

Apple Macbook Pro M2

Apple Macbook Pro M2 Pro

Let’s start off with the Apple M2 Pro processor, which is one of the two processors that you will find under the Macbook Pro. Apple continues to use the same 5nm process to manufacture their processor and it consists of 40 billion transistors which gives 40% faster performance than their previous M1 Pro. The M2 Pro gives users a whopping 200GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and up to 32GB of low-latency unified memory. With the option of a 10 or 12-core CPU, it consists of 8 high perf cores and 4 high-efficiency cores – which results in 20% faster work horse power than the 10-core M1 Pro.

The GPU on the other hand, just like the CPU is configurable – hitting up to a whopping 19 cores, whereas the M1 Pro maxed out at 16 cores. Oh, it also has a larger L2 cache. This gives people who need GPU performance, what they exactly need. And to sweeten the deal, it is 30% faster than the M1 Pro.

Apple Macbook Pro M2 Max

Now, on the other hand, we have the Apple M2 Max, once again with some nifty upgrades that users would go for. It houses 27 billion more transistors than the M2 Pro, totalling 67 billion with 400GB/s of unified memory bandwidth and a friggin 96GB of fast unified memory. If you thought M1 Max was blazing fast, well then, this M2 Max is blazing “faster”. The CPU core does cap at 12-core which is the same as the M2 Pro but the GPU touches the 38-cores mark with, of course, a larger L2 cache. This means, 30% faster performance than the M1 Max.

Other than the Processor Improvements…

The connectivity with both the Macbook Pro processor choices now supports Wi-Fi 6E for a faster connection and an advanced HDMI which is capable of 8K60 and 4K240. It also has 3 Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card slot and everyone’s favourite – the MagSafe 3 Charging port. The Macbook Pro will come with macOS Ventura right out of the box with the improvements we saw such as Handoff in FaceTime, Desk View, Centre Stage, Studio Light and so much more.
