Great Wall Motor has been doing a fantastic job in electrifying its vehicles which does strengthen the foundation for the future of EVs. That said, their appearance at Auto Shanghai 2023 gave us a closer look at the new lineup of NEVs from its 5 major brands – namely Haval, and Ora which do ring a bell for us Malaysians, Tank, Poer and Wey. GWM has been serious about its transition to NEV – also known as New Energy Vehicles and we have seen a good response from their recently announced Good Cat Ora which is available in Malaysia. Parker Shi, the VP and Head of International Market at GWM highlights that this appearance at Auto Shanghai 2023 shows the company’s achievements so far and the announcement of a little over 15 NEVs. Yep, that’s a lot. Starting off with…

The GWM HAVAL Fierce Dragon MAX is their new all-star product which is an SUV that comes equipped with a Hybrid Intelligent 4WD technology and has a design that compels consumers who want to opt-in for a youthful and futuristic look.

Following that, GWM POER now comes in a 6×6 variant, and there’s a new GWM POER Shanhai PHEV/HEV, which is a high-performance hybrid pickup.

Touching upon the luxury market comes to the GWM TANK400 PHEV and GWM TANK500 PHEV – both aimed as the luxury off-road new energy SUVs and have gone on a pre-sale globally.

The GWM WEY Gaoshan PHEV happens to be the first MPV model and a six-seater electric SUV, Lanshan PHEV adding to the WEY’s portfolio.
Finally, GWM ORA announced two pure electric models – the GWM ORA Lightning Cat and the GWM ORA Ballet Cat GT.
Finally, GWM has also showcased some of their innovative technologies which will be adopted by the cars manufactured by them. To mention a few, the 3.0T V6 engine + 9HAT+P2 platform, Hi4, TANK platform and the 6×6 super off-road platform which happens to be a proprietary technology.
Shi said that “GWM will rely on the forest ecosystem to accelerate the technology iteration and product upgrading, and provide global users with more high-quality and intelligent new-energy products”. Now, this does go well with their philosophy for the NEVs – where the focus is on making “Greener, Higher and Safer” cars.
Guess it’s time for us to look forward to more EVs from them very soon, perhaps locally even.
