ASUS has officially announced the arrival of the highly anticipated ASUS ROG Phone 7 series in Malaysia. The new lineup promises an immersive gaming experience with cutting-edge features to help it be at the forefront of gaming smartphones. It is supposed to an improvement of the ASUS ROG Phone 6 which we reviewed here.
ASUS ROG Phone 7 Series & ASUS ROG 7 Ultimate
The ASUS ROG Phone 7 series share the same beating heart that is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is expected to clock in at 3.2GHZ and is 15% – 20% more powerful than its predecessors. Overall power efficiency is also an improvement of about 15%. It may not sound like much but demos show that it is able to provide portable Ray-Tracing for your mobile games!
All variants also have improved thermals (with the Ultimate variant having enhanced ones) that feature a much larger vapor chamber and graphite sheet backplate. Which is a welcome improvement from previous overheating instances with the ASUS ROG Phone 6 when required to run intensive tasks.
The ASUS ROG Phone 7 series will be able to support Wi-Fi 7 once it launches in Malaysia. Not much has changed for the camera though as it seems that ASUS has decided to keep the same 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, 13MP Ultra Wide, and 5MP Macro setup used previously in the ROG Phone 6.
Pricing and Availability
The base model ROG Phone 7 priced at RM 3,599, offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. While the higher-end model priced at RM 4,299, provides an impressive 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The ROG Phone 7 Ultimate has a suggested retail of RM 4,999. This variant comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage and includes the AeroActive Cooler 7 in the box. There are also additional bells and whistles such as a rear screen and an enhanced cooling thermal system.
The ROG Phone 7 series is available now but the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate will only be available for purchase starting May 15, 2023.
To celebrate the launch, ASUS is offering an exclusive Early Bird Bundle promotion for customers who purchase the new ASUS ROG Phone 7 during the their roadshow. The bundle includes an Extended Warranty service, AeroActive Cooler 7, ASUS ROG Phone 7 Devilcase, and an Antibacterial Glass Screen Protector worth up to a total of RM946 .
