Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 vs Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic

Different: The Sizes and Dimensions

While both the watches are pretty much the latest offering from Samsung, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has two specific differences. The mm of the watches and the dimensions. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic comes in two configurations – 43mm and 47mm. This is because of the additional exterior component that adds to the experience of the Watch’s interaction.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 on the other hand also comes in two different sizes 40mm and 44mm. This might be a bit concerning for users who wants to opt in for the 44mm and wonder if it’s smaller – but in reality, it doesn’t have an additional exterior component and it’s a whole lot cleaner and sleeker. So, fret not – it’s quite alright.

Same: The Materials and Specification

The choice of material Samsung has gone with both the watches are exactly the same with just one extra sensor on the Classic – 3D Hall Sensor which the Watch 6 doesn’t have. Otherwise, we are looking at the same Sapphire Crystal glass for the display, 425mAh for the biggest mm variants for both Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic and 300mAh for the smallest mm variants for both Watch 6 and 6 Classic.

It’s powered by the Exynos W930 Dual-Core Processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and runs the latest Wear OS Powered by Samsung, more specifically the Wear OS 4 with One UI 5 on top of it. Both the Watch 6 and Classic support Fast Charging via the Wireless charging dock. Finally, both watches have the same 5ATM and IP68 certifications. Both the Watches use a new Quick Release strap for better connectivity and ease of use.

Difference: The Dials

Speaking of the dials, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 touts a rather clean finish, just like every other predecessor we have seen so far. No physical controls except for the buttons on the side. Whereas the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has a physical rotatable dial which was exactly the same as the Watch 4 Classic and the OG Watch which came in one variant only. The dial is 15% thinner than the Watch 4, so it has more display than anything.

But truth be told, the dial is absolutely fun to play with and as someone who loves a proper luxury watch, this is definitely up my alley.

Same: The Variants (LTE and BT)

Both the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic have two options to go with – the Bluetooth variant and the LTE variant. The latter doesn’t mean that the watch only comes with LTE. It means, additionally to Bluetooth, it comes with LTE capabilities. So, with select telcos in Malaysia, you can bind an eSIM to your watch. If you happen to leave your phone behind, you are still connected to anyone that calls you.
