Z Flip 5 Flex Window Display

In our review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, we sure did speak a lot about the Flex Window Display – which happens to be the biggest highlight of the phone. That said, in this article, we are going to show how you can maximise the Z Flip 5 Flex Window Display to the fullest and have the best experience possible.

Customising the Wallpaper, however you want

Z Flip 5 Flex Window Display

For one, you don’t want to have the stock wallpaper forever. It’s pretty much a basic move for a phone of such calibre. So, customize it however you want it. For this, you can head over to Settings > Cover Screen and on the top, you will see an option for Add New. From there, you can choose a single, or multiple images (be in static or GIFs) to spruce up the looks of the wallpaper.

Next up, there are three elements you can change on the screen – app notification, clock size, style and colour and battery life indicator. If you are using simple static wallpapers then you can add frames (graphical or alphabets) or add filters to the wallpaper. So far, I’d say these are pretty neat customizations.

Built-in Widgets and Modifying Quick Responses

Widgets are going to give you the quick access you will need to the things you use on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, these widgets don’t include the kind of widgets we add to our home screen – it still is a capable set of widgets for you to maximise the use. We have a bunch ranging from Recent Calls, Direct Call, Calendar, Alarms, Stopwatch, Timers, Voice Recorder, Steps, SmartThings Routines, Financial Watchlist and Apps.

They can be reorganized in any way possible and if you want to take a glimpse of all the widgets, simply pinch the display and it opens up an overview of all the widgets, therefore giving you quick access to the one you want to access immediately.

Labs: Cover Screen Apps

Speaking of apps, to make this work, you need to enable the “Apps allowed on cover screen” option in the Labs section, which gives you access to select applications that are supported officially (although some features of the app might not work well). So at the moment, the apps that work under this are Maps, Messages, Netflix, WhatsApp and YouTube.

But if you want more application support, without some risky business…

Take it further with Good Lock for more Apps

Good Lock is the app you should look for. To download this app, there is one important criteria – to make sure the country you reside in has official support for Good Lock. In our case, here in Malaysia, we have the support. So, all we have to do is head to Galaxy Store, search for Good Lock and download it. After downloading, open Good Lock switch to the “Life Up” toggle and look for “MultiStar” – download that. Once you enter MultiStar, you will see a special option “I <3 Galaxy Foldable”.

Under the Launcher Widget, you can add other applications you use on a daily basis to the cover display or Flex Window Display. The Game Widget gives you access to some mini-games that you can play from the cover display and these are byte-sized games made by GameSnacks which is pretty fun to play as well. I like Stack Bounce.

So, there you have it – this is how you can maximize your Z Flip 5 Flex Window Display and make it truly yours. We have some other articles coming soon as well – so, make sure you click here to not miss it.
