Acer isn’t one for major changes all the time, and sometimes that’s okay – because of one simple reason: if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. And that seems to be the direction that we noticed with their Predator Helios Neo 16. It still appears to be the decent laptop I knew, just with one design change and the usual specification upgrades. Which you can find out in this Predator Helios Neo 16 First look.
CES 2024 Predator Helios Neo 16 First Look
Not Much Design Change, Except for…
For the most part, the Predator Helios Neo 16 looks exactly, and I mean the same as the Neo 16 we saw last year. Nothing too over the top. It still has these codes on the back to make it seem like you are some hackerman. Or as Predator has eloquently put it in a sentence: “Uniquely Coded Cover that Delves into the PredatorVerse”. Touche.
However, there is one part of the laptop that got some change and that is the back of the laptop. The protruded area of the laptop now says the model and the size of the laptop, giving it this tactical look which many FPS players would be fond of. I just hoped that the design extended inside the laptop which does look a little bland, to say the least.
New Specifications under the Hood
Under the hood of the Predator Helios Neo 16, the laptop comes with the following specifications:
- Upto 14th Generation Intel Core i9 Processor
- Upto NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU
- 16” 16:10 WQXGA 240Hz DCI-P3 Display
As for the RAM and storage, expect it to be DDR5 and PCIe Gen 5-based SSD.
What Else?
Nothing much really. The keyboard and the trackpad are the same as the predecessor. The port selection of the laptop is still stellar with Thunderbolt support and all the accoutrements a gaming laptop would carry. While it may seem a little too vanilla, maybe that’s the point, because Predator Helios Neo 16 is the kind of laptop mass consumers will be looking for and hey it works quite alright. As for the performance, we can’t comment yet – as the time to review this laptop will happen at a later date.
