For the past few generations since the downgrade, the smallest S series smartphone has not been their attention, which sure did make it a lot sadder than it should be. But for the first time, Samsung realized that it too deserves the love – so, here’s our Samsung Galaxy S24 First Look.

Samsung Galaxy S24 First Look

Still the Compact Flagship we Know

Compact flagships deserve every bit of love and the Samsung Galaxy S24 is one worth the love. It still is the smallest flagship they offer in their lineup and this time around there are some nicer improvements to make the phone feel better in your hands.

But better…

For one, the phone is not flatter on all sides, now yes, this is very reminiscent of the iPhone designs we have seen and it’s the first time Samsung has attempted such a design. In the past, it has always been curvy. That said, it is constructed in aluminium alloy and weighs about 167 grams.

The display on the front gets a .1” bump – so it is now a 6.2” FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display which looks nice as ever – with the thinner bezels it feels more different for sure. For the first time, it also feels like you are holding a phone with more display than bezels. Once you get used to this, it’s going to be pretty hard to go back to displays with bezels.

Improvements over the S23

For the first time, we finally good improvements. The battery now gets bumped to an extra 100mAh, rounding off to 4000mAh and the charging speeds are as same as the predecessor (25W Wired and 15W Wireless). Both the glasses on the front and back use Corning Gorilla Glass Armor which is a lot tougher and you do find the fingerprint under the hood.

The camera happens to be the same configuration: 50MP with f/1.8 Primary, 10MP f/2.4 and 12MP f/2.2 respectively. As for the front-facing camera, it’s a 12MP f/2.2 that works just fine.

Yes, it uses Exynos

This time around, the Samsung Galaxy S24 and the S24 Plus will be sticking to the Samsung Exynos Processor – the 8650 which is based on a 4nm process and with 8GB RAM, it does perform well as it should. The storage configuration begins from 256GB and for the first time, we get a 512GB variant here locally as the previous one did not have one.

Conclusion

What may seem like some harmonious upgrades, I am finally happy that there is some level of love that has gone into this phone. It isn’t a huge upgrade, but something is better than nothing and I can’t wait to review this little Samsung Galaxy S24 after we are done with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – which you can read about here.

It sure does feel well and this time around the specification isn’t the focus but the software itself. That said, you can read all about the Galaxy AI Features by clicking here and the pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Series here as well. To read more about the S23 Plus – click here.
