Not too long ago, Fujifilm Malaysia had their Summit in Sydney where they unveiled a plethora of imaging solutions ranging from Camera bodies and lenses. But what caught most users’ attention happens to be the new Fujifilm X-T50 and Fujifilm GFX100S II which has finally touched base in Malaysia for all the right reasons.

Following the Fujifilm X-T Series, the Fujifilm X-T50 is the new addition to the lineup. While the differences between the older generation and the new one aren’t too far apart – the brand does claim to have some improvements that would affect the experience in a good way. For one, the Fujifilm X-T50 uses a 40.2MP sensor and says hello to the new X-Processor 5 which we saw in the X-T5 and X100VI.

Of course, the camera does have a 5-axis IBIS and claims to hit up to 7 stops as well. Whenever someone talks about Fuji, you know they are signing up for the film simulation as that’s what the brand is known for. For the first time, we see a proper dedicated Film Simulation Dial that allows you to switch to their pre-built film simulations like Provia, Astia, Velvia, Acros and so on, totaling upto 20 simulations.

Fujifilm is still proud of its APS-C setup which we all know of, and the camera is capable of shooting 6.2K/30P without breaking a sweat. It also touts a new 1.84 million dot display, and pop-up flash integrated into the camera, weighing 438 grams.

The Fujifilm X-T50 goes on for sale in three different colours and in three configurations:

  • Fujifilm X-T50 Body for RM 7,998
  • Fujifilm X-T50 with XC15-45mm for RM 8,498
  • Fujifilm X-T50 with XF16-50mm for RM 9,998

If you pre-ordered the camera anywhere from 16th May till 16th June, then you get to redeem gifts worth upto RM 2,952 in total.

While this camera isn’t for the masses, as it is completely catered for a niche user using a large format sensor, the Fujifilm GFX100S II is a monstrous camera. Before we get into the sensor and what the camera does, the build quality of this camera gets some attention as it now uses a new material, BISHAMON-TEX for a more grippy and comfy hold. The Fujifilm GFX100S II weighs at 883 grams.

Moving on to the sensor, under the hood it uses a newly improved 102MP sensor with the new X-Processor 5 and improved IBIS, providing upto 8.0 stops of correction. You get all the film simulation modes as the Fujifilm X-T50 here, including REALA ACE for that realistic colour production.

One feature it has that you might not see in other cameras would be the Pixel Shift Multi Shot where, with the help of the IBIS, it shifts to capture 16-shot RAW files, combine and generate an image with approximately 400 million pixels. As for the rest, you get all that AF tracking, 4K/30P, support for ProRes, 4:2:2 10-bit and hey even, record it out to an external SSD via Type-C.

The Fujifilm GFX100S II will be priced at RM 26,888 (body only) and if you pre-ordered the camera during the same duration as the X-T50, then you get to redeem freebies worth upto RM 5,235.

As for the new Fujifilm Lenses…

Fujifilm Malaysia showcased the new FUJINON Lens XF16-50mm f/2.8-4.8 for the X-T Series and the FUJINON Lens GF500mm f/5.6 R LM OIS VR for the GFX series, however, there’s no pricing or availability information on this. We will update you when we have more info on those.
