With the Samsung Unpacked 2024 happening for the second time this year, and this time around, it’s for the Foldables – there was one device Samsung teased during the S24 Launch and that’s the Samsung Galaxy Ring. I am sure that most of us were excited about a wearable that you can actually wear 24/7. But here’s the spoiler alert: The Samsung Galaxy Ring is only available in Selected Market and Malaysia is not one of them.

To give a quick gist about the Samsung Galaxy Ring, it’s their first “ring” shaped fitness wearable, however, the market has been dominated by Oura and others for a while now. The 24/7 capable tracking ring has some great things going on paper: it weighs about 3 grams, is made out of Titanium Grade 5, comes in three 3 colours, and has a case that can charge the ring and bring its life upto 7 days. Since it’s a sealed wearable with no ports whatsoever, you are looking at IP 68 protection upto 10ATM as well.

And, the whole news about the Galaxy Ring not coming to Malaysia is like pouring a bucket of water on a perfectly lit campfire. During the briefing and exclusive hands-on session we had with the devices, Samsung Malaysia did not give us a clear answer as to why it isn’t coming to Malaysia. However, from the conversations we had, it seems like Samsung Malaysia is figuring out on how to have a smoother experience for consumers to own one as it is a new type of wearable on this part of the world.

Some of the issues seem to be – how to get consumers to own the right-sized ring wearable, manufacturing it and the list goes on. So, if you were hoping to get a Galaxy Ring, you probably will have to look elsewhere or play the waiting game. Trust me, as frustrated I am as a consumer myself, some things are worth waiting for and it might do some good after all.

But on the other hand, we are getting the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 and the new Watch Ultra, which personally, we have some mixed feelings about it. You can click here to check out our hands-on and initial impressions on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Buds 3, Buds 3 Pro, Watch 7 and Ultra.
