Now that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is finally live, thanks to Samsung Malaysia, we got to try these devices a lot earlier to share our impressions with it. That said, there are some significant improvements and changes with the flip – so, time to check out this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Impressions.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Impressions
Funkier and Peppier in Looks
For starters, if you remember last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 for its matte finish colours but rather glossy hinge, well, time to say goodbye to that because they have gone for a much funkier and peppy look this time around. The phone is as colourful as it can get with colours that pop like the Yellow, and then we have other colours like the Baby Blue which is a personal favourite, followed by a Minty Green and the Grey shade which looks the same as the Titanium Gray of the S24 Ultra.

The back glass, the hinges and the metal rails on the sides are all colour-coded and have a matte finish. The cameras on the back of the phone, in this case, it’s the front – have accented colours around it too.
Improved Front Display Experience

While dimensionally, not much has changed with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6’s Cover Display, the brand has improved its experience and features so that you can use both displays better such as for translation and better usability. So, the Cover Display supports more widgets, and so on.
A New Primary 50MP Camera (Same as the S24 and Plus)

Time to bid farewell to the smaller megapixel sensors, and say hello to the 50MP primary, which is the same as the S24 and S24 Plus. So this means better low-light performance with Dual Pixel AF, and better image sharpness. The other cameras are the same as its predecessors, 12MP Ultrawide and the front-facing camera is a 10MP shooter, which you would never use as the UTG tends to make it look like it was shot on a poor quality camera.
Now defaults at 12GB RAM for all Configurations

Unlike the Z Flip5, where the base version was capped at 8GB RAM, things change with the Z Flip 6 as now, both the available variants come with 12GB RAM by default and you get to pick between two storage options – 256GB or 512GB.
A new 4000mAh Battery, Improved Hinges with IP48

Another big improvement would be the battery as it now has a 4000mAh (compared to the 3700mAh on the Z Flip 5) – the same capacity as the S24. The battery life should improve by a lot but we aren’t too sure if it would live up to our expectations, which we will find out when we review it.

The Dual Hail Hinge on this Z Flip 6 and the Z Fold 6 gets the same improvements – which are, better shock distribution, enhanced resistance to pressure and sharp objects and it even uses a much more improved armour aluminium. Because of this improvement, for the first time on a foldable from Samsung, we finally got a better IP certification, now at IP48 (vs IPX8 on the Z Flip 5).
As for the Rest…
Samsung’s main focus with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 happens to be from a lifestyle standpoint. With that, the One UI on these phones are designed with the idea of giving more lifestyle-centric features on top of the Galaxy AI features. Some of them worth naming would be the Camcorder mode, better IG integration for lowlight, Multiwidgets and so on.
By the time you read this, we would have gotten our hands on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 for review – so, stay tuned for that because there’s a lot we want to talk about.
