The last time we got to try a Bone Conduction earbuds was when “Aftershokz” (which then got rebranded as Shokz) released their first ever headphones which did get a lot of attention. Ever since then, the brand has a strong footing among consumers who are fitness junkies and such for its versatility and a rather unique approach to audio which works well in such workout situations. The new Shokz OpenRun Pro2 headphones are now in Malaysia with improved hardware – so lets find out more.

The Shokz OpenRun Pro2 biggest difference and improvement happens to be the DualPitch Technology where instead of just relying on the bone conduction driver, it now houses an air conduction speaker along with it to give a better whole sounding experience. So, while you run, the bone conduction driver handles the mids and the highs whereas the air conduction driver handles the bass part of it or the low frequency to put it simply.
Apart from that, it offers 12 hours of battery life, comes in two different colours – black and orange, and its also being offered in two different sizes (which we’d recommend trying at the stores to get the right fit). The whole headphone is made out of a high-strength material (nickel-titanium alloy) with soft silicon finish, which is a much better improvement over the original ones we tried years ago. On top of that, with the built in microphones and such, it has the ability to optimize volume range, depending on the external factors.
Worry not about the charging, as it has a USB-C port, and just charging for 5-minutes gives you 2.5 hours of playtime. There’s support for multipoint, so connecting to two devices simultaneously is no big deal. The IP55 certification is achieved with the help of a double-layer mesh structure and nano-hydrophobic coating. Powered by Bluetooth 5.3 and has SBC codec support which is enough in this case and Shokz is offering 2 years warranty as well.

The Shokz OpenRun Pro2 Malaysia price is at RM 899 and at the time of writing, starting from 23rd September till 29th September, Shokz Malaysia roadshow is happening at Mid Valley Megamall where the first 50 customers will walk away with RM 400 worth of freebies: which includes sleek sports belt, cooling towels and t-shirts. If you plan to use it for swimming, they offer the OpenSwim Pro and for the vanilla Bone conduction experience, there’s the Air as well.
