With more and more Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphones making their way into Malaysia, the phone we are excited for is the ROG Phone 9 series which consists of 3 different models – there are more similarities but with slight difference if you care about them. So, let’s get right into it.

ROG Phone 9 Series Malaysia

We are sure that the ROG Phone 9 Series is no different from its predecessor when you glance upon it but there are more interesting changes going on for the right reasons.

For one, the display refresh rate has been amped upto 185Hz and it still keeps the 6.78” AMOLED FHD+ display. You might not be able to experience the 185Hz in most games but thanks to the Armory Crate, you can checkout which games do support it. Secondly, the camera happens to be a big change here – now for those who get the normal ROG Phone 9, you get the Ultrawide 13MP f2.2 and 50MP main sensor made by Sony which supports the latest 6-axis Hybrid Gimbal Stabilizer 4.0.

There is a slight difference with the third camera: the ROG Phone 9 gets a 5MP Macro whereas the Pro and Pro Edition has a 32MP f/2.4 OIS Telephoto camera with 3X optical Zoom. The front camera remains to be the same – a 32MP shooter as well. One of the biggest change happens to be the processor – we get the new Snapdragon 8 Elite which really provides the cutting edge performance that users opting in for this phone would be looking for.

Finally, there are some nice changes – like for instance, the Anime Vision Mini LED display on the back of the phone is a lot more functional – in the normal 9, you get 85 mini LED which is functional enough for you to have some information displayed for quick look. The Pro and Pro Edition gets 648 mini LEDs and you can even play games, unlock some cool animations and customize however you want. You do get support for WiFi 7, Dual Battery with 5800mAh which supports 65W HyperCharge and 15W Wireless Qi-Charging as well.

Pricing and Availability

ROG Phone 9 Series

The ROG Phone 9 Series will be available in three different options: the normal variant, Pro and Pro Edition with slight difference in the storage and RAM configuration.

  • ROG Phone 9 will be available in Storm White and Phantom Black for RM 3,999 which comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB Storage
  • ROG Phone 9 Pro will be available in Phantom Black for RM 4,999 with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.
  • Finally, the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition which comes in the Phantom Black colour with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage and the only one to include the AeroActive Cooler X Pro will be priced at RM 5,999.
