One of the biggest announcements in CES 2025 from ASUS happens to be their first ever venture into making the lightest laptop in the consumer market for 2025 – but more specifically under the Zenbook name – which is the first. That said, the new Snapdragon X Series powered ASUS Zenbook A14 is now in Malaysia and here’s what you need to know about this laptop.
ASUS Zenbook A14

Being their premium consumer laptop lineup, the ASUS Zenbook A14 uses the same Ceraluminum chassis, which we have seen before with the other Zenbooks. Because of that, we are looking at a laptop that’s 30% lighter and three times stronger than anodized aluminium. The minimalist look is interesting, and you don’t see the ASUS insignia anywhere but a simple Zenbook text on the back with letters spaced evenly.

Coming in at 14”, the ASUS Zenbook A14 is a small and light laptop that might check off a lot of consumers’ checklists. For the most part, expect the same hardware under the hood. The storage and RAM are configured for 1TB Gen4 and 32GB LPDDR5X, respectively. Despite being thin and light, ports are not an issue as it come equipped with 2x USB4 with DisplayPort and PD support, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 1x HDMI 2.1 TMDS and 1x Audio Jack.

There are 4 areas you will see a difference, depending on the model you choose to opt in. Starting with the processors: ASUS made the Zenbook A14 available in both Snapdragon X Processor (8c/8t) and X Elite (12c/12t). Secondly, the display configuration varies as well: the vanilla X processor-powered laptop gets a 14-inch IPS display at 16:10 aspect ratio with 90% screen-to-body ratio. However, if you want to enjoy the OLED experience ASUS is so proud of, that experience is limited to the X Elite-powered A14 which houses a 600 nits HDR peak brightness, OLED display.

The Snapdragon X Zenbook A14 gets a smaller 48Wh battery with 65W adapter which ASUS claims that it can last for as long as 29 hours whereas the X Elite gets a much bigger 70Wh batter with 90W adapter. Because of these differences, the X powered A14 weighs 899g and the X Elite powered laptop weighs at 980g.
Pricing and Availability

The ASUS Zenbook A14 will be available in two colours: Zabriskie Beige and Iceland Gray and these two colours will be available for both Processor configurations. That said, the Snapdragon X Powered Zenbook A14 is priced at RM 4,999 and the Snapdragon X Elite version is priced at RM 5,999. Starting from 7th March till 31st March 2025, every purchase of the ASUS Zenbook A14 comes bundled with ASUS ZenScreen MB166B worth RM700, available on a first come first serve basis.
