The Acer Swift X 14 Is Basically a Creator’s Dream Alternative to the Macbook that is lighter on the wallet

Acer has officially dropped the Swift X 14 AI, and it might be the best bang-for-buck creative rig we’ve seen this year. Unveiled at COMPUTEX 2025, this sleek 14-inch machine is packing AI smarts, a 3K OLED display, and an NVIDIA RTX 5070 GPU all under the asking price of a MacBook Pro M4 Pro of similar size and storage space.

Made for Creators, Built for Everyday Use

A commonplace issue for a lot of “MacBook Killers” is that though they may out-spec in terms of performance, one area that they tend to skimp out on is build quality in order to offset the costs. Not the case for Swift X 14 as it comes with an all metal chassis that has a 180° hinge and a haptic touchpad that actually feels good.

Under the hood, depending on what you choose you can either have an AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 processor with advanced “Zen 5” cores for fast responsiveness and endurance to run heavy AI processing. Or you can opt for Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 285H to handle most multitasking and demanding applications smoothly. Both options are supported with 32 GB LPDDR5X Ram and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage.

Acer’s ace in the hole is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU in the Swift X to handle most of the graphical needs of running Adobe Creative Cloud, DaVinci Resolve, Unreal Engine, or Blender for creatives.

Beauty in the Display of the Beholder

What really makes Acer’s Swift X really stand out is the display that it comes with. Not doubt Apple’s Retina display looks good, but when you have a 14.5” Calman-verified OLED display with 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 on native 3K resolution. It kinda dwarfs the video, image editing, illustrating experience on Apple Macbook abit.

We have to say what makes us prefer the display on Acer’s Swift X is definitely the fact that blacks look truly black which may not sound like much but when displaying media, the contrast really makes the other colours pop. Not to mention as a creative, the fact that is has more variety in ports (including a 3.5mm jack for you audiophiles) just makes the Swift X more adaptable.

No news if the Acer Swift X Laptops would ever make it to Malaysian shores but this might just be worthwhile to purchase while you are overseas.
