In case you missed out on our GPU announcement from AMD, you can click here to read about that, and in this one, we are checking out the new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series and the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 WX-Series as well.

Computex 2025 AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series | Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000 WX-Series

For those who require a workstation setup for their more high-end work such as modeling, graphics intensive processing and the list goes on – you are looking at the processor you should go for – and these processors are based on the AMD Zen 5 Architecture with 4nm process, so expect no less than pretty good multi-threaded performance, energy efficiency, good performance and of course the memory bandwidth you’d require for the tasks youre about to do. What caught my attention is the support for Enhanced AVX-512 – something we will talk about in another article.

Starting with the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series, you have 3 processors to choose from, the 9960X with 24 cores, 48 threads, the 9970X with 32 cores and 64 threads and the top of the line 9980X with 64 cores and 128 threads respectively with the potential to hit upto 5.4GHz max boost clock speeds. The 9970X and the 9960X get the same 128MB L3 Cache, whereas the L3 Cache on the 9980X is a bigger 256 MB cache. All the processors rely on PCIe 5.0 and use the sTR5 Socket, and the power consumption appears to be at about 350W.

Next up, you have the more powerful processor, the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9000 WX-Series, which has 6 different configurations from 9945WX all the way to 9995WX – and it goes from 12 cores 24 threads, to a whopping 96 cores and 192 threads. What got us excited is the high-end processor, which is the 9995WX, which consumes 350W TDP. All the processors do have the same TDP, so I am pretty surprised to see that.

That said, now that the Codename Shimada Peak is out and about, these Processors are going to rip and tear in tasks you plan to put them on.
