Dubbed as the King of Quartz in the world of watchmaking, or as Nico Leonard would say, “Godtier” – Casio has unveiled their first ever Mechanical Watch, which is a shocking move coming from the legendary watch makers who have built their legacy on Quartz movement. That said, the Casio Edifice Mechanical Watch marks the first ever move into the world of mechanical watches for them and here’s what you can expect.

Casio Edifice Mechanical Watch

Available in four different shades – which we will get into in a bit – the Casio Edifice EFK-100CD takes inspiration from motorsports and incorporates it into its watch design. All housed in a 39mm case, with a 40-hour reserve mechanical movement with an average daily rate of -35 to +45 seconds (which appears to be the Seiko NH35A), this watch is quite the looker in every way possible.

On the front, you get a scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal covering the “Forged Carbon” dial finish which is made by electroforming for three shades: Green (EFK-100D-3A), White (EFK-100D-7A) and Navy Blue (EFK-100D-2A) whereas the Black EFK-100CD-1A specifically is made out of forged carbon, therefore making it light and strong. The silver indexes, which are raised, give a very elegant look. What I love about this watch is the date window, neatly tucked away in the 6 o’clock area.

The entire watch is constructed in Stainless Steel, including the Band with a one-touch 3-fold clasp buckle to get it locked on your wrist, has an elegant polish and on the back, the watch features a see-through screw lock back – which is pretty good for first time watch owners to enjoy their first Mechanical movement. Apart from that, it does offer 10-bar water resistance, so water up to 100 meters shouldn’t worry you much.

Casio Edifice Mechanical Watch Malaysia Price

At the time of writing, Casio has not shared any information on the pricing and availability on these watches for the Malaysia Market – but based on the Japanese Prices, you are looking at ¥55,000 JPY (~RM 1614) for the Forged Carbon Black, whereas the other three colours are priced at ¥49,500 JPY (~RM 1452).

Exchange rates are based on Google on 19th June 2025 (1000 JPY = RM 29.35).

Update 3:55pm, 19th June 2025: Casio Malaysia has confirmed that the Forged Carbon Series will be available in August 2025 in Select Casio Authorized Store. More details to come.
