This year, the AMD Ryzen Z2-powered ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X will be making their way all around the world on October 16, 2025. At the time of writing, these devices are currently being showcased at Gamescom 2025. That said, here is all the information you’d require about the upcoming upgraded Handheld Consoles from ROG and this time made in collaboration with Xbox.
ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X Malaysia
The ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X share the same idea, which is to bring a portable gaming experience on the move, but both devices have it’s differences and cater to two totally different audiences. For the first time, these handheld devices are co-collaborated with Xbox, which also means that this is “technically” the first Official Xbox product to be made available in Malaysia. (We still don’t have the Xbox officially made available.)

On a hardware level, the ROG Xbox Ally is powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, with 4 Zen 2 cores and 8 Threads with 8 AMD RDNA 2 GPU cores. Paired with this, you’ll find 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 512GB M.2 SSD with a 60Wh battery.

The ROG Xbox Ally X takes things up a notch with a more powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, which packs an 8-core/16-threads Zen 5 APU with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU cores, and as the word “AI” suggests, it has an integrated NPU. With a whopping 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB M.2 SSD, and a bigger 80Wh battery, you are looking at a more powerful Ally X than the 2024 Model ever was.

On top of this, the OS, which remains a mystery – the new Xbox element fused with Windows 11 OS, which seems like it strips the Windows element, and provides a more gamer-centric experience, like in the image above, where the Game Centre and Command Centre happen to be merged seamlessly. Apart from that, this is something we can only try when we have the chance to do so.
The one thing we don’t know is the pricing, which ROG happens to be keeping under wraps. Something we will only know in October 2025. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled as we will share more then.
