With more and more children spending time digitally, especially while playing games, it’s important that we have parental control to manage situations. That said, the new PlayStation Family app is finally out, and with the app, you can now monitor to make sure your child is safe and manage your family.
PlayStation Family App

Available to download on iOS and Android platforms, the PlayStation Family app gives you access to all the necessary features you’d need to manage your kids’ playtime. The app focuses on five main features, and to dive in a little deeper, you are looking at the following:

- Guided Onboarding: where you can set up an individual profile for each child to make sure that the profile is catered to every individual.
- Real-time Notifications: Parents can see what games their child is playing in real-time and decide if they want to play for a long time, such as requesting extra playtime or playing a game they don’t have access to. Additionally, parents can communicate with their child through the app, approving or declining requests.
- Activity Reports: This provides a glance at your child’s playtime on a daily and weekly basis.
- Managing Playtime: You can set play time for each day and how long – in fact, if say your child wants a little more time, they can ask for additional playtime from the console, and you as the parent can approve or decline via the app.
- Manage Spending: One of the most important features, where you can now make sure that your card isn’t getting swiped for games and in-game purchases without your authorisation by setting a spending limit.
- Content Filters: With this, you can make sure that only age-appropriate content appears and the rest gets tucked away from their innocent eyes.

While these features are something we have seen in other services, we are glad Sony has made them available on their PlayStation, and now you can make sure that your kids are safe online playing games and building a better discipline while they are at it.
