One of the highly anticipated digital cameras that Ricoh offer in its arsenal is the Ricoh GR lineup, and this camera has made a significant impact among consumers and photographers all around the world. The new Ricoh GR IV has made its global debut, and it’s now in Malaysia – so here’s everything you need to know about this pocket beast.

Ricoh GR IV

The Ricoh GR IV is still the high-end compact camera we know, but it has received some improvements over its predecessor, that is the Ricoh GR III Series. You get a new 18.3mm lens with f/2.8 focal length, which should give you a 28mm Full Frame equivalent focal length and paired with that is a 25.74MP APS-C CMOS sensor.

There are some improvements to the AF and low-light performance, which appear to be faster on paper. For those who need a bit of stabilisation, well, the 5-axis 6-stop shake reduction system should help. It also features a 35mm and 50mm crop focal length, which could be beneficial for a lot of shooters.

Behind, we have a 3” Touch Screen LCD, which should do the job for viewing and as a viewfinder, as it doesn’t have a dedicated viewfinder. In the software department, Ricoh has added a new Cinema Mode to the Image Control, which gives more fun visual tone effects to play with on top of the 12 conventional tones you could find before.

Connectivity is going to be much improved here as it now supports both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN dual Communication, so pairing to your device is going to be a breeze for transferring photos or even for remote shutter functions. Apart from that, some notable changes will be the built-in 53GB storage now, and since it now uses a slightly bigger battery, the SD Card slot has been replaced with a MicroSD card slot.

Video might not be the prime focus in a camera like this, but if you want to shoot video, then you can do it at 1080/60p with H.264. The one thing we hope that Ricoh fixed is the dust settling in the camera lens – which I hope is a thing of the past.

Ricoh GR IV Malaysia Price
