In a recent development in Taiwan, where smartphone distributors claimed that they were unable to obtain any ASUS smartphones and received information that the 31st of December marks the end of the ASUS Smartphone division has raised a lot of concerns. Which then, ASUS officially responded that the brand has no plans to launch new smartphones in 2026 due to the current landscape.

Adding on to the statement, the brand has shared that existing smartphones will receive software updates, warranty services and maintenance as intended. Will this mark the end of the gaming smartphone lineup? Well, it is a little hard to speculate. However, it is safe to say that this decision might come from a place of scarcity faced in obtaining RAM and storage due to the demand for AI infrastructure. However, in another announcement, ASUS is eyeing entering the drone and AI Glass market.

When the time comes later this year at Computex 2026, we will find out more about it afterall.
