After all the teasing and such, we have finally witnessed the launch of the new Volvo ES90 in Malaysia, and it is only available in one variant, which is what we are going to talk about in this article.
Volvo ES90 Malaysia
Priced at RM 339,888, the Volvo ES90 positions itself in a place where you’d find their previous hybrid saloons, which is pretty much expected. However, the Volvo ES90 does things a little differently, with its fastback finish, which is truly a beautiful look when you see it in person. That said, under the hood, you are looking at the following configuration, which is available in Malaysia as the only variant.
The ES90 offers about 651km range, all possible with the Single Motor Extended Range under the hood and the range is based on WLTP testing standards. The car can produce 333 hp and hit 0-100km/h acceleration in just 6.6 seconds. While it may not be the fastest, especially when you know the EX30 hits a whopping 3.6 seconds, however, that’s the performance model, just to let you know.
What makes this ES90 pretty special is that it’s built on their most advanced 800-v architecture. Which means, you now don’t have to wait for long to charge from 10 to 80 per cent, as it now only takes 22 minutes with a 350kW DC fast charger. Since Volvo Cars Malaysia has a plant in Malaysia, this car is assembled in Malaysia from the ground up.
It’s also the first Volvo that’s powered by NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin computing platform for responsive performance on the go. That, combined with the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, means you are looking at a decked-out tech in a Volvo.
The Volvo ES90 does come packed with features you can expect from the Scandinavian brand, such as Drivers support in the name of Driver Understanding, top-tier Bowers and Wilkins audio system, beautiful dash with a vertical display for controls and a dedicated Head on Display which is nice, Ergonomic seats which you can’t go wrong with and a Electrochromic Panoramic Roof which is all glass but can be closed off with a tap of a button.
The ES90 is made available in four different colours in Malaysia: Onyx Black, Crystal White, Vapour Grey and Denim Blue. Starting today, you can view the Volvo ES90 at all the authorised dealers and for those who are planning to own, and if you happen to be an early adopter, which is limited to the first 100 units booked by 31st March 2025, you will receive a 2% early-bird incentive.
