This year, I believe Samsung took the least amount of effort to make their phones interesting from a hardware standpoint and the whole focus has shifted to AI, which we can only talk more about when we have the device in our hands. That said, checking out the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Improvements, there are three in specific that stood out to us for the right reasons.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Improvements

Two New Camera Apertures

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra gets better low-light performance for two specific cameras, the main 200MP sensor which now gets an aperture of f/1.4 vs f/1.7 on the S25 Ultra and the 5x 50MP Telephoto sensor gets f/2.9 compared to the f/3.4. Though this isn’t a huge leap, because the previous aperture they had was already pretty good for what it is, however, this should marginally improve. Pair it with the new Customized Image Enhancer and the ProScaler plus mDNIe, you get better computational photography experience out of these dated camera setup.

New Faster Charging Speeds

If you were one of the users out there who asked for a faster charging speed and not a bigger battery, well, power to you because this phone gets 60W Super Fast Charging via wired connection and 25W via wireless charging.

Privacy Display

Samsung’s main highlight this year is the Privacy Display you will find in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The 6.9” Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display gets a hardware based privacy display which can be either toggled at will from the quick settings or you can customize to be enabled on certain screens, applications or areas of your phone. This is best seen or shown with a video, which we have posted on our YouTube channel.

As for the rest

Mostly you get the same experience and hardware as last year. Although this year, the main focus happens to be in the AI department. So, something I would highly recommend keeping your eye on here which we will dive in deep when we have the time to do so. As for the pricing, you are still looking at a premium price point, despite the minor improvements.

There appears to be no 256GB variant available, but the 512GB is going for a whopping RM 6,799, and the 1TB variant is priced at RM 7,999 – making it the most expensive S Series ever made.
