I am all in for a laptop revolution because Windows had all the shots to make affordable and functional laptops, but they dropped the ball one too many times we can count. And Apple has definitely caused the disruption the market needed, because the new Macbook Neo put the entire windows laptops under RM 3000 or $599 to shame for what it is about to offer.
MacBook Neo Malaysia

If you are going, “it doesn’t have a lot of things the Air or the Pro has.”, you can stop right here and respectfully, f*ck off for all we care because this Macbook Neo opens up the avenue for users who are under tight budget, students who need a functional laptop for their school and coursework and most of all, a laptop that gets the bare minimum done. I know it because I used to be that student.

The Macbook Neo, has compromises in the right places to make up for a decent laptop that anyone can use with no qualms. There are two variants to choose from: 256GB without Touch ID and 512GB with Touch ID. Apart from that, the laptop shares exactly the same thing – A18 Pro processor which you find in the iPhone 16 inside a laptop with 8GB unified memory and comes powered by a 13” LED backlight IPS display with 2408×1506 resolution and 500 nits brightness.

Since this is a low-power laptop, it uses a 20W charger to get things going. So charging via a Power Bank is possible. On the side, you do get two USB-C ports; however, only one is USB 3.0, which can do 10Gb/s, whereas the other is a 2.0 with 480Mb/s speeds. Hey, it does have a headphone/microphone combo jack which is great.
When we talk about setbacks or compromises, well, the laptop doesn’t have a backlight keyboard, which can be a dealbreaker for some. But it doesn’t bother me much personally. A laptop that helps me do my coursework faster over a backlit keyboard any day man.
Pricing
The MacBook Neo is really priced under RM 3000 here in Malaysia, with the 256GB going for RM 2,499 and RM 2,899 for the 512GB. There’s no news on the availability but stay tuned because we believe this laptop will sell like hot cakes.
