Both the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 get the new Snapdragon processor treatment and there are some good improvements going on with the Ultra 2 and some quality-of-life improvements with the Watch 9 which we will address in this article altogether.
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Hands-On

Starting with the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, which is their “ultra” watch, definitely feels like this year it has gotten the right upgrades it should have had the whole time since its debut two years ago. That said, the case is now slimmer at 10.7mm (vs 12.1mm), and they have gone for a softer band which is now 1.9mm (vs 2.9mm), which is included inside the box for better comfort. It still touts the Titanium case and weighs 61.5 grams.

The battery capacity sees a 35% jump to 800mAh which is a good sign but I will reserve my thoughts on this for later if we ever review the watch at all. The 1.52” display is crazy bright with 5000 nits which is crazy honestly, so safe to say you could use this display as a torchlight in the dark.

This time around, Samsung is putting that Ultra name it has to good use. For the first time, it receives a dive certification from Mares to be used as a Dive computer. For those who are wondering what certification it is, it’s the EN13319 – which means it can handle Scuba, Snorkeling and High-speed Water sports. How reliable this is, will remain a mystery until someone takes to the deep depths of the ocean.
However, the watch features a new Trail Run feature which a lot of us runners will make good use of, as it aims to give you data like route navigation, elevation, climbing progress and terrain impact. There’s even a real-time hydration remainder which will be displayed based on the Sweat Loss Feature.
For cyclists out there, the Ultra will have a Direct Sensor Connection feature which tracks your power, cadence and speed. Now these are exclusive to the Watch Ultra 2. So, what does the Watch 9 offer?
Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 Hands-On

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, available in two sizes, 44mm and 40mm, will feature the following hardware:
- 3000nits peak brightness display
- 1.47-inch display on the 44mm and 1.34-inch display on the 40mm
- 445 mAh Battery and 390mAh battery
Apart from that, the watch is now 25% lighter; it’s something you really need to try it in person, and its new air pocket structure strap is a huge treat because it really does wear better on the wrist. The Galaxy Watch 9 will feature something called Daily Cardio Load, Vital and Fitness Index. These features will also be available on the Watch Ultra 2 too. But what does it do?

Basically, the new Vitals feature will track all of your data such as HRV, Blood O2, HR, Skin Temperature and Respiratory Rate which helps with monitoring your daily and making sure that you are in the right range for your age. And to make sure its accurate, it will compare data set with your age group with the help of Fitness Index and makes sure that if you are on the right track among your age group. Long overdue features like this does make the wearable better.

If these features will be available on the existing wearables, well we are not sure. Apart from that, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 is a good improvement and even though it looks the same as last year’s Watch 8, I do like this Watch 9 better. So, will you be upgrading your Galaxy Watch this year, let us know what you think.
