We are days away from 22nd of July, and we are excited for the next Galaxy Unpacked, more specifically for one device which we all know by the leaks. That said, Samsung officially shared their new reinforcements done to the inner display which is something they have been doing their best to improve every iteration. From plastic, to UTG and now we have a new “Frame” that helps with the structural rigidity of the display. With that, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Flex Titanium Technology for the display will be the biggest improvement we are going to witness in the foldables and here’s what we know about it so far.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Flex Titanium Technology

One of the biggest challenges Samsung has faced in the past with its fold is getting the display right. We went from a teeny tiny cover display to now a longer display on the front, thought it is far more usable, personally, its still not my cup of tea. However, the bigger problem lies when you unfold into the bigger display. We have seen Samsung move from plastic display to UTG, which is now the standard for their phone display but one thing Samsung couldn’t get right was the structural rigidity and integrity of it.

The Flex Titanium Challenges

That seems to be changing with their new Flex Titanium Technology. With this, Samsung is introducing two titanium sheets right below the OLED panel. First we have the Titanium-alloy Film. Now, Titanium on its own, sure its strong but with folding and unfolding one too many times, it is bound to snap or lose its integrity. This is where Samsung has gone for a Titanium-alloy film which gives a much better support for the OLED Panel.

They have used an advanced hole processing technology that creates the right lattice structure to handle the folding and unfolding actions. On top of that, this Titanium-alloy film is said to have no air gaps between the module and adhesive because of this new hold processing. One thing we are definitely going to check out when we have the chance to.

Below the Titanium-alloy film, there’s now a Titanium Plate, which offers better structural rigidity and if you have encountered how the display kind of flexes in the older folds, well, that seems to be a thing of the past with the upcoming Z Fold 8. Combine all of these two new Titanium sheets, the display will now be a lot less crease-free and you get a much better viewing experience.

Tom’s Guide Shares…

While we only know what Samsung has shared officially, Tom’s Guide went on a junket to Samsung’s factory to check these new displays out in person and based on their video, the new display is said to handle 500,000 folds, and with the torture tests that took place in those labs, the numbers were even more interesting. The panels can fold upto 60,000 times in the coldest temperature -20-degree celcius and 300,000 times at the highest temperature, which is 60-degree Celsius.

Our Thoughts

Combining these new reinforcements that’s happening to the Z Fold 8 Lineup is something I am personally excited about. We don’t know if this is going to be on the Flips as well, but that’s one we have to wait and see. But what appears to be certain is that, the Z Fold 8 is coming in two different dimensions and personally, I have always wanted a usable dimension Fold and with that Passport-sized Z Fold 8 being a reality, you best believe that I want that in my pocket as the foldable smartphone that I would love to daily.

Until we know more, stay tuned to us till 22nd July, as we will share more with you once we get our hands on and so on.
