While smartphones are seeing a price hike, Xiaomi announced their new REDMI 17 Series and REDMI A7 for those who are looking for entry level smartphone and these prices are pretty decent compared to others who are increasing phones like such to much expensive price point.

Xiaomi REDMI 17 Series

The REDMI 17 Series offers two different configurations: 17 and 17 5G. For the most part, both phones share identical specifications:

  • 6.9” 720p Display with 120Hz refresh rate
  • 7500Mah battery under the hood with 45W Turbo Charging support
  • Durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i on the phone for better durability
  • 50MP Dual Camera Setup with 8MP front facing camera

The one thing that differs from both the smartphone, is the processor configuration. The 5G variant gets the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 with 5G whereas the 17 gets the MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra. On top of that, the RAM is configured at 4 and/or 6GB depending on the variants available in different countries and storage options of 128GB and 256GB.

REDMI A7

For users who are looking for a much more affordable REDMI smartphone, Xiaomi offers the A7 which offers a 6.88” 720p display with 5200mAh battery and on the rear, you’ll find a 13MP camera. Under the hood it features a Unisoc T7250 processor with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage and hey, it even offers SD Card expansion. Something we don’t see in phones this affordable anymore.

As for pricing, the REDMI 17 Series is now available nationwide, and the pricing is as follows:

  • REDMI 17 5G comes in two configurations
    • 4GB RAM | 128GB for RM 799
    • 4GB RAM | 256GB for RM 899
  • REDMI 17 is available in one configuration
    • 4GB RAM | 128GB for RM 699
  • REDMI A7 is priced at RM 469 for 3GB RAM and 64GB storage
