If you have been waiting for the newer 2026 Volvo EX90 Malaysia launch to happen, well that’s finally here and the new 800V architecture based electric 7-seater SUV is now capable of some amazing things under the hood and lets quickly run it down.
2026 Volvo EX90 Malaysia

For the most part, you do feel like you are looking at pretty much the same car on the outside and that’s fair because the changes are very granular, a touch here and a dash there. But what’s happening under the hood, or well, inside the car is where the real magic is. Up till last year, the 2025 model used the 400V architecture (SPA2 first Gen) which was already a neat technology. But the 2026 ups the ante to the newer and faster 800V architecture, dubbed the second generation SPA2, which now delivers upto 350kW peak DC fast charging.
So, If you think 30 mins to charge from 10 percent to 80% 400V was fast, well ask again because the 800V brings it down, close to 22 minutes approximately. The maximum power of the new 2026 EX90 is rated at 680hp (vs 517hp). This variant here in Malaysia gets upto WLTP range as well (vs 623km).

Apart from that, one of the other biggest change in the Volvo EX90 happens to be the new core computer, the new NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin chips which now hits 500 TOPs of computational performance. Now, we all know the whole AI is going to be talked about but in this case, its pretty important for it to make sure that the safety features can be well adapted and improved over time. If you do notice the lack of a “mohawk” like apparatus on the windscreen, thats because the new Volvo EX90 will not feature the LIDAR system which we saw in the previous model. This is simply because to save the power consumption but worry not as the safety aspect of this car remains to be the same Selamat Volvo we all know and been assured of.

So, this time around, it’s safe to say that the new 2026 Volvo EX90 we are seeing in Malaysia gets the improvements, mostly in the electrical architecture and computer improvements. For the pricing, 2026 the Volvo EX90, well globally there are three models to choose from and here in Malaysia, last year we had the only one, which is the Twin Motor Performance going for RM 442,888. This year, we still get the same Twin Motor Performance model which is priced at RM 428,888. There are no updates on if the longer range variants would be coming to Malaysia but for now, this is the only variant available with a 6-seater option available later this year.
