Samsung has just announced new additions to its popular foldable devices at the latest Unpacked event; the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is an enhanced version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3. It comes with a new FlexCam feature than can be activated by partially folding the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. FlexCam has also been optimised with most social media platforms namely Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp due to Samsung’s collaboration with Meta.
Furthermore, users can take high-quality selfies with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4’s upgraded Quick Shot feature. Users can also shoot videos using Quick Shot and quickly switch to FlexCam without any interruptions to the recorded video, which makes this handy for content creators.

Samsung has also made the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 even more handsfree than before. Users can now make calls, reply to texts, unlock their cars and even control the SmartThings Scene widget straight from the Cover Screen.
With Galaxy Themes on both the Cover and Main Screens, users can complement their style with custom fonts, icons, and designs. In addition, users can customise their Cover Screen by adding new clock designs and backgrounds in a variety of formats such as images, GIFs, and even video.

Now let’s get to the specifications. Being a flagship foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 touts the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor under the hood. This is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The main display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate while the Cover Screen is a 1.9-inch Super AMOLED Display.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is equipped with a dual camera setup that includes a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera. At the front is a 10MP selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on is a 3,700mAh battery with support for Samsung’s Super Fast Charging that’s capable of topping up your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 to 50% in around 30 minutes. The Galaxy Z Flip4 is also IPX8-certified and features a capacitive sensor at the side of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is the first smartphone to come equipped with Android 12L, a special version of Android 12 that has been custom-made by Google to work with large-screen devices including foldables.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 also comes with a new Taskbar feature that’ll make multitasking on the Fold4 even better. The new Taskbar has a layout similar to your PC and provides access to your favourite and most recently used apps. Thanks to new swipe gestures, multitasking is also more intuitive. Switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows in an instant, or split your screen in half for more ways to multitask.

Because of Samsung’s collaborations with Google and Microsoft, Google apps such as Chrome and Gmail now support drag-and-drop, allowing users to quickly copy and paste links, photos, and other content from one app to another. Users can now connect with more people while engaging in virtual co-activities such as co-watching videos on YouTube or playing games on a video call with Google Meet.
The foldable display is used by Microsoft’s full Office suite and Outlook, providing more information on the screen and faster ways to interact with the content. S Pen functionality completes the multitasking experience, allowing on-the-go drawing and notetaking with streamlined storage inside the Standing Cover with Pen case.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 touts a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display for the main screen and a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display for the Cover Screen. Both screens feature an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate.
Popular social media apps, such as Facebook, are optimised for large-screen viewing, while streaming entertainment services, such as Netflix, can be watched hands-free with Flex mode. Users can even control the device without disturbing the content with the new Flex Mode Touchpad for non-optimized apps.

Inside, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 packs a flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC as well as 12GB RAM with up to 1TB of internal storage. Camera-wise, the device packs a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera and a 10MP telephoto camera. As for the selfie camera, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 comes with a 10MP camera on the Cover Screen and a 4MP Under Display Camera on the main screen.
Other features include Armor Aluminum frames and hinge cover as well as Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the Cover Screen and rear glass. It is also rated IPX8 water resistance.
