ROG Zephyrus G series has always been a fan favourite for its portability and performance – it does look like a gaming laptop, which of course it is. But it also defies that usual flashy gamer-like aesthetics for a subtle-looking laptop. This year, the big one gets the Anime Matrix and it sure is exciting. Here’s our ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 first look.

ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 First Look

Now with Anime Matrix

For those who have waited for the Anime Matrix to arrive on a bigger footprint of a laptop, well, this is definitely the best thing to have happened. The M16 finally gets the Anime Matrix from the G14 – so it’s pretty much safe to say both the laptop in the lineup has Anime Matrix. It works exactly as how it did with the Zephyrus G14. You can customize the ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 in any way you like – text, GIFs or even the virtual pet to tell you what’s going on.

Featuring ROG Nebula HDR Display

ROG is equipping pretty much every single laptop in its arsenal with the newer ROG Nebula Display technology. Now the first time we got to witness this display was last year when we played with the Zephyrus Duo – which touts a delicious Mini LED display. The ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 comes with a QHD Mini LED display with 240Hz and 3ms response time.

Since it is an HDR-centric monitor, the peak nit brightness for this laptop maxes at 1100 nits and it has a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. Oh, and of course, it does have NVIDIA G-Sync.

Pretty Powerful Specification

The specification of the ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 is extremely solid back then and it still is – featuring the next generation Intel Core H Series with NVIDIA GeForce RTX Series GPU – comes packed with 2 SO-DIMM slots which can go upto 64GB DDR5 and storage that uses the latest PCIe Gen 4 SSD. On top of that the laptop has a TDP of 160W and with the help of Advanced Optimus – it will manage the power efficiently. The 90Wh battery supports Fast Charging and since it has a Thunderbolt 4 port, it also can be used for PD charging.

Conclusion

For users who have been eyeing the bigger Zephyrus but also want that novelty feature which is quite the head turner – I am glad to report that the ROG Zephyrus M16 GU604 will definitely fulfil those users. Not a lot has changed in the aesthetics department as it’s still the same laptop but there’s no need to because it is perfect the way it is. We aren’t too sure if we’d get the AMD version for this year – but it’s something we have to wait and see.
