Predator Orion X First Look

The Predator Gaming lineup has been making some thoughtful improvements and in fact, even making products that are “head-turn” worthy. One of the recent trends we have seen many users opting in for is an ITX profile PC – which takes up a lot less space and still gives the performance you need. We don’t see many pre-built ITX systems but Predator is taking the route in making this possible. Here’s the Acer Predator Orion X First Look.

Subtle “Industrial” Accents

Predator Orion X First Look

For one, the Predator Orion X has this – futuristic industrial look, you’d probably witness in movies like “The Edge of Tomorrow” for instance. On the front, you notice these Zones and the orange hazard-like sign which does give it a very mecha-like look. Those numbered areas on the front are latches to open the PC’s panels – on top and both sides.

It’s actually protected with a magnetized plastic cover which does give it some level of protection and accidental latch release, say for instance by kids.

On the top, the Predator Orion X has a nice shiny blue power button, which plays well with the brand colours. It doesn’t stop there as the PC’s panels have some hexagonal shapes and patterns on the top and sides, not just for aesthetics but to help with the thermals. Despite the shape which may seem generic, it does look like a nice statement piece that sits beautifully on your table.

Jam Packed with Good Specification

Don’t let the size fool you though because what’s under the hood is a little crazy. It comes equipped with a 13th Generation Intel Core i9-13900KS processor – a 24-core 32-thread 150W TDP processor cooled with a 240mm AIO custom-made for this processor.

The GPU on the other hand is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 which has 24GB G6X memory. Now the GPU here seems to be special with a custom liquid-cooled module attached to the standard heat sink fans, to improve the thermals better. As for the RAM, it packs 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM with 2 M.2 SSDs where one slot is populated with a 1TB SSD.

The rig also features Intel Killer E3100G and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E AX211 for connectivity. As for the ports, and since it’s a PC, expect it to have a generous amount of them ranging from USB 3.2 Gen 1, headphone-mic combo jack, USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C ports, 3x 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, 2x USB 2.0 and RJ45.

Super Small Footprint

Since it’s an ITX-based PC, the Predator Orion X doesn’t take too much space on the desk – it does weigh about 9kg which is pretty good. Now, despite its small footprint, it sure does get a fundamental of a good ITX right. As we got to look at it, I think it’s a well-executed system with many users wanting to own one. In terms of upgradability, Predator is promising better ability to DIY whatever you want with the storage and so on. But to what extent, is something we can only tell when we have it in our hands?

But hey, I do love a good ITX and the Predator Orion X is shaping up to be one.
