At Auto Shanghai 2023, GWM unveiled their new lineup of NEVs under every sub-brands, which has definitely made the entire brand accelerate its presence in the new energy vehicle segment. GWM HAVAL Fierce Dragon Max, which is under the Haval brand, was released in China, which also happens to be the first debut of the car in person.

To shed a little light on the new GWM HAVAL Fierce Dragon Max, this SUV happens to be the first to feature a Hi4 technology, that takes a traditional four-wheel drive system and incorporates intelligent features, therefore, touting a new hybrid system. This particular Hi4 uses a dual-motor design with both parallel and series connections between the front and rear axles, which gives a 4WD system performance but with 2WD system efficiency.

Combined with the GWM Intelligent Torque Vector Control System and Intelligent Energy Management System, it is said to give better efficiency in every speed range, and scenario, with no compromise in performance yet consuming lower power. There are 9 different driving modes where the car does switch dynamically – making it pretty interesting and curious to see how well it makes a difference in the real-world use case.
The car has a 2.8m wheelbase and the design they have gone for has a futuristic look to it. Based on the fuel consumption report they have attained from their tests, it is said to only consume 1.78l/100km and if 0-100km/h matters, well, this GWM HAVAL Fierce Dragon Max hits 6.8 seconds.

There’s no information as to when we will get to see the GWM HAVAL Fierce Dragon Max in Malaysia but at the moment, Qiao Xinyu, the Deputy Marketing GM for HAVAL did mention that it will be available in the Chinese Market, starting this May 2023.
