The recent camera launches from Fujifilm, have put consumers in two lots – either it’s excitement or disappointment because of the pricing structure and such. But finally, Fujifilm Malaysia has brought the Fujifilm X-M5 into Malaysia and this is the most affordable X-Series camera you could get from them. So, here’s what you are getting with this lightweight.
Fujifilm X-M5 Malaysia

The Fujifilm X-M5 falls more in line with cameras like Sony ZV Lineup for instance, where you will have trade-offs for features you are looking for or it’s widely used. Weighing at 355g makes this camera light and easy to carry wherever you want – and still get some good high-quality images or videos out of it. It gets the new X-Trans CMOS 4 Sensor which has a back-side illuminated 26.1MP resolution with X-Processor 5 that gives you AI Processing, HEIF, and better efficiency in processing. Fujifilm has included a Mechanical Shutter, making it more than capable for photo and video.

This camera does have some really good firepower like Subject Detection AF and it gets the Film Simulation dial which we have seen with the X-T50. You still get all that film simulation as before, but now with a dedicated dial. The X-M5 supports 6.2k/30p 4:2:2 10-bit recording and even hit 4K60 or 1080p240 with no issues.

One of the best parts is, that this is the most affordable OpenGate camera you can find in the market. This is also the first camera to have the option to have 3-microphones baked into it to record surround, front priority, back priority, or both front and back priority at the same time.

Since the camera is in a rather small profile, you are left with a Digital stabilization instead of IBIS which is a bit of a surprise but it does make sense as the profile of the camera is rather compact. But it does leverage Image Stabilisation with the lens it uses – so it’s something. Another thing worth noting is that it doesn’t have EVF for those who would like to have one.

Finally, you get all those features to make your shooting experience worthwhile – NR, support for F-LOG2, LP Mode, Frame.io support, 9:16 Short Movie making, easy-to-use interface, Portrait Interface, Background Defocus, Product Priority mode, and Portrait Enhancer. Users getting this will get a slew of accessories support – and honestly, this seems like a good B-Cam when you do want to get some things done, especially with a two-camera setup.
