We have seen the leaks for the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G and we were impressed by the looks of it – all thanks to Evan Blass. But as we speak, Samsung has unveiled both the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G and the Galaxy A36 5G – now we have no dates as to when these phones will be available but there is information we would like to share to make a sound decision on which one would check your boxes.

Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Specification

For the first time, we notice some specification differences between both phones. Starting off with the biggest one in the lineup – the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G will be available in four colours: Lightgray, Graphite, Olive (our favourite) and Pink. Starting with the front, the display dimensions are set to 6.7” with 1200 nits peak brightness. While the bezels are still there, it shouldn’t bother that much. The entire phone weighs 198 grams and it’s 7.4mm thick.

Under the hood, the A56 powers the Samsung Exynos 1580 with 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. There’s a good chance Malaysia would be getting the 256 GB configuration, but we need to wait and see for the RAM. On the back, the triple camera setup appears to be the same with a 12MP f/2.2 Ultra Wide camera and a 50MP f/1.8 OIS AF Camera with the third one be a depth/macro camera. The charging speeds for the A56 5G have finally improved to 45W as opposed to the 25W we saw with the last generation.

Samsung Galaxy A36 5G Specification

The Samsung Galaxy A36 5G on the other hand, get the same display configuration, charging speeds, and thickness and weighs slightly less at 195 grams. Now here’s the kicker, starting with the camera: the Ultrawide on this is an 8MP f/2.2 shooter and the main sensor is still a 50MP f/1.8 OIS AF sensor. The processor on the other hand, is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (interesting choice I might add) and there are four storage and RAM configurations to choose from: 6GB with 128GB, 8GB with 128GB or 256GB or 12GB with 256GB.

As for the colours, you are looking at four: Lavender, Black, White and Lime. Of course, it has the “Awesome” moniker in front of the colours.

Some Key features to take note of

These Samsung Galaxy A56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G retain the same Samsung promises such as 6 generations of OS updates, and 6 years of security updates and these phones are IP67 certified. With “intelligence” being the focus of this series of phones, you get all the Circle to Search, Best Face, Selfies with Filters and Nightography with Object Eraser. Galaxy AI features, we are not sure but only time will tell. And of course, from last year – we once again see the Knox Vault in these new generations of phones.

The Galaxy A56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G are coming to Malaysia…

But we have no information on the dates as to when it will be available or the pricing will be unveiled. And then there’s the Galaxy A26 5G which is a budget phone, which gets almost identical specifications as the A36 but with some minor changes including the processor. But based on the “SR+ e-voucher” that they are offering, where you can pay RM 10 to get an RM 100 e-voucher (so basically, the discount is RM90) to get the A Series until 17th March 2025, which then you can use the voucher to purchase the new A series from 18th onwards – safe to say that the phones should be available for pre-order and we should know the pricing by then.

In the meantime, we will keep you updated on the pricing, availability and of course, a review of the phone very soon.
