So, you purchased a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 but there are things you are figuring out, more specifically on the little display you see in the front of the phone when closed. Given that we are focusing more towards the Flip4 as well, we decided to take the time to make a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen Guide for you to have a better understanding on how it works and what you can do.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen Guide

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 features a 1.9” Cover Screen when the phone is closed. Now this is the same display as the Z Flip3 but with the newer OneUI, the experience is a little more different as you can do a little more than the usual stuff. For those who are on the Z Flip3, chances are that Samsung will be releasing an update where you too can use this same guide to customize your cover screen however you want.

To access the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen…

It’s simple. Samsung has added a dedicated settings panel where you can find the Cover Screen option immediately. Either swipe down your notification toggle to access the settings or you can swipe up from home > tap Settings > scroll to Cover Screen.

In Cover Screen…

You have a bunch of options to choose from – now before we head into the two major customizations – Clock Style and Widgets – you can now modify your notifications appearing on your cover screen by just a toggle. For one, you can have the option to show or hide notifications from the cover screen and secondly, you can set the screen to wake whenever there’s a notification.

You can choose to hide the content or show content based on the Lock screen settings but it’s a bit pointless to hide when the whole point is to see it anyway. The option to turn on the Always-on Display for the Z Flip4 is in the display column – and you can access it though the “Looking for Something else?” toggle.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen: Clock Style

Samsung Galaxy Flip4 allows you to have a basic or graphical cover display which is a nice option to have. Graphical has watch faces which are animated, and you may see a resemblance as these are the same lock screen as the one you would find on their Smartwatches.

And then in Basic, you have a choice of 12 different clocks to choose from, but this is where the fun is in my opinion. This time around, you can set a custom wallpaper background, so any wallpaper works to make the phone look truly the way you want it to be.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen: Widgets

As for Widgets, Samsung does give you some extra sets of widgets to have in the smaller screen – such as Music, Direct Dial (which is great), weather, Schedule, Alarm, Health, Voice Recorder, Timer, and Calendar. Now unfortunately, these widgets are limited to Samsung’s selection, and you cannot add extra or custom widgets. But given that there are widgets many of us don’t use from the aforementioned list, you can turn it off and even re-order it from your most used to least used.

You can add the direct dial options from the widget screens, and you can have up to 3 contacts. Think of it as the modern-day speed dial.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen: Quick Settings

Unlike the Z Flip3, the Z Flip4 now allows you to control a bunch of quick settings from the Cover Screen which makes life easier in many ways. The key 6 settings you can find are Sound Mode, Bluetooth, WiFi, Aeroplane Mode, Torch, and Cover Screen brightness. Again, this isn’t customizable.

Other things you can do with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen

These are some of the main things you can do with the cover display. There are other things you can do with the smaller display without opening your phone as much as you can.

  • Double pressing the power button to launch the camera and use the primary shooters, for pictures or videos. Swipe down or up, to toggle between ultrawide and Wide. Swipe to the right for Video recording and to the left for portrait mode.
  • Answer/end call with the Cover Display
  • Quick Reply to messages from the template or customize for more personalized quick replies

So, there you have it – a simple yet effective guide for your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 Cover Screen experience. Hope this helps and for more of these foldable content – stay tuned to us at The Adventures of Vesper.
